Opposites
It is so amazing to me how two little girls with similar DNA could be sooo completely different. I wanted to record some of those differences so that in 20 years when the girls ask me what they were like I don't forget. Here's a list of some of the things I've noticed about the two.
Pregnancies for both were polar opposites. With Mikayla I hardly noticed I was pregnant. No sickness, no stretch marks, life was a dream. Sophia I was sick from day one, the mere thought of some foods sent me to the bathroom. Lots of back pain, sciatic nerve pain and tons of stretch marks.
Labor and Delivery: MIkayla was 25 hours with only 5 of those with an epidural (not by choice mind you). Sophia was 3 hours and I never felt one contraction.
Sleeping: Right off the bat Mikayla did really well with sleeping and still is a champ at sleep (she asks us for naps and often will walk into her room, climb up into the bed and take a nap on her own) Sophia is still struggling with the concept of sleeping through the night.
Weight gain: Mikayla started off gaining weight steadily and then it dropped off. Right now she is wearing size 12-18 month clothes. Sophia is my chunk a munk. She is wearing size 6-9 month clothes and she just barely turned 5 months. She is only one size away from Mikayla! (For most of you out there, that might not be that chunky, but for my kids, that's huge!!)
Teething: Mikayla got her first tooth at 10 months and we didn't see another one until 14 months. Sophie got two teeth at 4 months and two more are on their way in. Hence the no sleeping.
Personalities: Generally Mikayla is very outgoing, talkative and spunky. Sophie seems to be very sensitive and tender hearted. If Mikayla is crying about something, that will start Sophie as well.
It's amazing how much I love my two girls. They bring me such joy and what makes me so happy is the love I already see they have for each other. Just looking at the picture at the top of the page brings me such joy. I love you two!!
